October + November threads

I think I came to a screeching hold on this site. Now I try to decide what pictures/stories/happening concerning "Threads" I should share.

October 10  - - -  We went to the Homeplace 1850s in the Land between the Lakes in Western Kentucky. Helen and I of course where very interested in the quilts and the samplers. Loved studying those.

November 2  - - -  The Hospitality Richmond Quilt Group meeting had an interesting program. A couple showed a vast number of quilts they have made together. Difficult to decide which ones to show. I liked the interesting setting of the cathedral quilt, something modern, interesting quilting.

November 8  - - -  CR quilters meeting

Janet's Row x Row

Some of my fabric ornaments (for gifts)

Wreaths I made for the St Martin's bazaar. Both sold. Can be hang on doors or used as table center pieces with candles in the middle.

Phoebe is a hand quilter. Impressive work.

Joyce showed us an "old" quilt with a very interesting label.

November 14  - - -  Colonial Lacemakers' meeting. Our newest member Anneli has only started to learn making bobbinlace a few weeks ago. Very impressive.

Some progress by others!

December  - - -  All the meetings are party, party, party! You find those on my main blog (top right tab).

November-December threads

October 31 brought a great surprise!!! Was one of the Block Lotto winners. So, all during November I received lovely mail from all over the USA and even Australia. When I had all my winnings I took them to the "Stitchers" and put them randomly on the design wall to show (off). Now I have to wait patiently until I have time to make the quilt. Of course I also have to decide how I want to finish it.

November 9 - day of the monthly lace meeting, this time at Lali's. She had a wonderful dessert for us.

I felt also very good because I was able to make another lace symbol for my Lace Adventcalendar.

November 10 - monthly CR Quilters meeting. We met at Janet's house because the CR ballroom was needed for something else. Janet gave a great workshop.

In the evening - Church Mice meeting - great show+tell

And an interesting lesson about English paper piecing especially hexies.

November 16 was the day of my church's Holiday Market. I demonstrated bobbinlace making. In the process i made progress on another Chrismon in Lace series. Started it the night before and finished it that evening.

A visit to Nashville finished William's socks. He was very happy.

December 10 was the "Stitchers for a cause" last meeting and potluck party. I did manage to finish my latest top. I didn't want to come back in the new year not remembering what I had planned to do. Can't wait to see this one quilted.

December 14 - monthly lacemakers' meeting, this time in my house (like every year ... It's a tradition).

No lace was made but this paper star.

Needless to say that my queendom is in a mess in this "before Christmas time". Ha-ha, no photo! But I think the New Year's Day resolution is to get my queendom organized again.

July threads

July 7 (first Tuesday) I went to a Richmond Quilters Guild Group meeting in Mechanicsville. The topic was the stack and whack 4 squares caleidoscope quilt. Very interesting. This black and white one really intrigued me.

Of course there was show and tell too.

Second Tuesday 9am - CrossRidge Quilters
Show and tell

Church Mice 7pm
I did the program about the 4 log cabin blocks in one go. A lot of preparation but now I almost have a quilt done for the Stitchers.
Show and tell:

This is the quilt the Church Mice are going to raffle at the Bazaar. It's 82" x 96"

And, of course, Row by Row started again. Lots of quilters were fascinated by it last year. It's fun. If you are in the area of a participating quilt show you might as well pop in! You can read about Row by Row here!

Quilting Adventure in Richmond VA

Blue Crab Quilt Co in Henrico VA

Sew Refreshing in Mechanicsville VA

Hancock's in Paducah KY

Quilters Alley in Paducah KY

So much eye candy this month but not much sewing done and not much lacemaking either. Sigh!
