We had decided on a one night stop-over in Seoul the way to Myanmar where we start our group tour. What a surprise when we saw there was a quilt museum so very close to our hotel. I had promised in my travel blog that I would write about it here.
Dear husband was so nice about it and was more then willing (after all, he had chosen the hotel). Turns out that we both enjoyed it very much. He was really into it and we discussed what was exhibited.
I will not comment much but let the pictures speak. There were signs everywhere about no photography but the caretaker encouraged me to take photos before I even asked.
Men's neckties
And when we thought that this was it we were sent into a hallway.
James held his fingers out for size comparison.
I was sorry that the elderly couple who seemed to be the caretakers or owners didn't speak much English. They were very nice but I had so many questions.
Most quilts were just lined and had no batting.
What is it with the dot dot dot space sewing?
The entry room had lots of six-sided tables and chairs. Do they have classes?
Oh well ... glad to have stumbled upon it. I would love to know what you think!
I realized there is so much "lace talk" and "quilt talk" on my main blog which not everybody might enjoy. So ... the main blog will be "private stuff" like family and travel. It will take a while but I want to share my lace and quilt patterns with you. .......... I want to encourage you to leave a comment.I like to know what you think. Was something helpful? Do you have a different opinion?

Back in the groove
...
On Saturday the Richmond Quilt Guild had a big exhibition. Guess what ... James came with me. It was fun to discuss with him which ones he liked and which ones not. This was one we studied closely.
You get a lot of ideas and inspiration in a place like this.
I think this would make a cute baby quilt.

I didn't think I would have time to make the September Block Lotto block. But a girl needs to have fun and I sneaked into my queendom for a little bit. This is my effort. It was a good lesson.
Catching up

Of course there is always quilting. I showed in previous blogs this Thursdays "Stitchers for a cause" project when it was in progress at different points. I started with the three donated "orphan block birds" and at every stage had to decide what to do next. I think this is how a "round robin" works (have heard about it).
This is how I gave it up. The clouds fabric on the top doesn't look as threatening as in the photo. Ellen, one of the organizers, wants to machine embroider a bible verse on the top and they want to use it as a wall hanging. All fine with me. The "orphan blocks" got used and it is going for a good cause. And I had a lot of fun.
I want to be brave and do some free-motion quilting. I am not giving up on learning to do this. Layering is done on the garage wall.
Didn't do too bad of a job. You can only get better if you actually practice. Circles and stars on the border.
Hang with magnets and 3M things for the first time. It works.
This wall hanging is not totally done yet though. More to come! I have big plans for it.

Besides the different monthly quilt guilt meetings I went to a women's club meeting in somebody's house and the hostess showed me her quilts. Motoko is truly a textile artist.
